Goof Balls
Goof Balls is a favorite cookie or candy featuring light brown sugar, margarine, dates, preserved from the family cookbook.

Make something worth remembering.
Method
- Place the sugar, margarine, egg, and dates in a heavy sauce pan and bring to a boil, stirring constantly. Continue stirring as it boils for 5 minutes. Remove from heat and add Rice Krispies, nuts and vanilla. Mix thoroughly. Cool until it is comfortable to handle. Roll into 1" balls. Roll balls in powdered sugar.
Family note
What makes this ours
This is a long-term family favorite of the Martell's and was made at Christmas time under the supervision of Dad. Lots of memories of Dad with this cookie recipe. Teresa The least favorite part was cutting up the dates, but then they came out with prechopped dates. Halleluiah! Marie 1965
