Caramels
A cookies & candy favorite from the Martell family cookbook, shared by Teresa Martell Pickens.
Make something worth remembering.
Method
- Place the butter, brown sugar and corn syrup in a pan. Stir using medium heat.
- Gradually add milk, stirring constantly until it reaches a firm ball (245°F). Stir in the vanilla. Pour onto a generously buttered 9 X 9 X 2 " pan. Cool. Cut into small squares and wrap in pieces of wax paper.

My own recipe. I started making them about 10 years ago. Many family memories! Now, I make about 8 to 10 batches at Christmas time.
