David likes this frosting on his birthday cakes. My mixer tends to blow the burner out so I didn’t make it very often!

Ingredients
To make enough frosting for 2 8-9″ layers:
2 egg whites
1 1/2 cups sugar
1/4 teaspoon Cream of Tartar OR 1 tablespoon light corn syrup
1/3 cup water
1 teaspoon vanilla
To make enough frosting for 9×13″ pan:
1 egg white
3/4 cup sugar
1/8 teaspoon Cream of Tartar OR 1 1/2 teaspoons of light corn syrup
3 tablespoons of water
1/2 teaspoon of vanilla
Instructions
Place all the ingredients except for the vanilla in a double boiler. Beat with a rotary beater until the mixture stands in stiff peaks. Scrape bottom and sides occasionally.
Fold in vanilla.
Variation: Follow the recipe above, except use the juice from frozen or fresh strawberries in place of the water.
