Quaker Square’s Famous Oatmeal Cookie Recipe
I’ve had this recipe ever since I lived in Akron and I got it at the Quaker Square silos.
Ingredients
3/4 cup vegetable shortening
1/2 cup granulated sugar
1 cup firmly packed brown sugar
1 egg
1/4 cup water
1 teaspoon vanilla
3 cups oats, uncooked
1 teaspoon salt
1 cup all purpose flour
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
Instructions
Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
Beat together shortening, sugars ,egg, water and vanilla until creamy.
In a separate bowl, whisk together the salt, oats, flour, and baking soda.
Add the dry ingredients into the wet ingredients and stir well.
Drop by the rounded teaspoons onto greased cookie sheet.
Bake for 12 to 15 minutes.
Makes about 5 dozen cookies.
