The kids and I make homemade pizza often. We sometimes just use a prepackaged crust and sauce. We use the best mozzarella cheese we can find and we like to add finely ground sausage.
Ingredients
1 10 ounce can tomato puree
1 teaspoon oregano
1 teaspoon basil
1 teaspoon black pepper
1 teaspoon granulated garlic or garlic powder
1 teaspoon granulated onion or onion powder
1 teaspoon grated parmesan cheese
1 teaspoon salt
1 package active dry yeast
1 teaspoon sugar
3 cups unbleached flour
1 cup lukewarm water
1/4 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon olive oil
Instructions
To make the pizza sauce, mix together well the first 8 ingredients, from the tomato puree through the 1 teaspoon of salt. This is good for 1-16″ pizza. It’s good!
To make the dough, dissolve the yeast and sugar in the lukewarm water and let stand until foamy, about 5 to 10 minutes.
Combine the flour and salt in a bowl. Make a divot in the flour mound and add the yeast, sugar and water mixture; add the olive oil. Mix together and knead until smooth and elastic, 5 to 10 minutes. Fold and mix the dough into a soft dough. Add a little flour if needed.
