Glazed Almonds

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 2 cups raw almonds

Instructions

  1. In a heavy two quart skillet, combine water and sugar over high heat.
    • stir with a wooden spoon until it comes to a boil
  2. Add almonds and stir continuously.
  3. Reduce heat to medium and stir almonds until mixture forms and turns to sugar
  4. Continue to stir as sugar re-melts and caramelizes on almonds.
  5. Remove from heat and turn out onto ungreased baking sheets
  6. Separate using forks
  7. Cool
Variations
  • For orange glazed almonds, add two tablespoons grated orange peel at beginning of cooking
  • For glazed spiced almonds, add 1/4 tsp cinnamon at beginning of cooking
  • For glazed rose almonds, sprinkle the nuts with 2 tsp of rose water and stir well at the end of cooking
