Glazed Almonds
Ingredients
1/2 cup water
1 cup sugar
2 cups raw almonds
Instructions
In a heavy two quart skillet, combine water and sugar over high heat.
stir with a wooden spoon until it comes to a boil
Add almonds and stir continuously.
Reduce heat to medium and stir almonds until mixture forms and turns to sugar
Continue to stir as sugar re-melts and caramelizes on almonds.
Remove from heat and turn out onto ungreased baking sheets
Separate using forks
Cool
Variations
For orange glazed almonds, add two tablespoons grated orange peel at beginning of cooking
For glazed spiced almonds, add 1/4 tsp cinnamon at beginning of cooking
For glazed rose almonds, sprinkle the nuts with 2 tsp of rose water and stir well at the end of cooking
